
TEMPTY Bánh Mì Sandwich
Ingredients
Sauce for the Tempty:
2x Tempty Piece
2 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp hoisin sauce
1 tsp rice vinegar
1 tsp oil for frying
Pickled vegetables:
1 medium carrot, cut into thin strips
¼ cucumber, cut into thin strips
2 tbsp rice vinegar
½ tsp sugar
A pinch of salt
For sandwich building:
2 small baguettes or crispy sandwich buns
2 tbsp mayonnaise
Optional: 1 tsp sriracha or lime juice (to mix with mayo)
Fresh coriander
Optional: Sliced red chili or jalapeño
Steps
1. Mix rice vinegar, sugar and salt in a bowl. Add carrots and cucumber, toss and leave to marinate for at least 15 minutes.
2. Stir hoisin, soy sauce and rice vinegar together in a bowl.
3. Heat oil in a pan. Fry Tempty Pieces until golden on both sides (6-8 min). Add the sauce, reduce heat and simmer until glazed.
4. Cut Tempty into strips.
5. Mix mayo with sriracha or lime to taste.
6. Cut the baguettes open. Spread mayo on both sides. Add glazed Tempty pieces, drained pickled vegetables, fresh coriander leaves and optional chili.
